The Prevention Department provides programs and services to protect the health, safety and well being of all students, staff, and citizens in Yuba County. It is important to provide a safe, drug, alcohol and tobacco-free environment at all school sites, district offices and workplace to promote learning and educational success.
As a department we directly serve Yuba County Office of Education schools which include Career Preparatory Charter Schools, Court and Community schools, Special Education, Early Child Development, preschools. We also provide direct services to Wheatland High School District and Marysville Joint Unified District.
Indirectly, we provide support services to all five districts within the county for various prevention activities. We participate and support state and county-wide prevention programs. We collaborate and maintain working partnerships with local agencies and other surrounding counties in the field of prevention education.
Prevention staff is well trained in tobacco education, violence and bullying prevention, asset/youth development, homeless education, and foster youth services. As the LEA, we administer the following programs for Yuba County Office of Education:
